History
The company was created on March 1, 2000, as Nd Cube. It was formed as a partnership between Nintendo and Dentsu, the largest advertising company in Japan. The "ND" in the name represents Nintendo and Dentsu. At that time, Nintendo owned 78% of the company, Dentsu owned 13.3%, and other shareholders owned the remaining 8.7%.
After the release of Mario Party 8 in 2007, many employees from Hudson Soft joined Nd Cube. This included Hidetoshi Endo, who was the president of Hudson Soft and became the president of Nd Cube around 2009.
In 2010, Nintendo bought the shares of the company from Dentsu and other shareholders, becoming the largest owner. Nintendo’s ownership increased from 78% to 96% initially, then to 97% in 2015, and reached 99% in 2023.
In 2012, Nd Cube changed its name to NDcube. That same year, the company released Mario Party 9 for the Wii, which was its first Mario Party game.
In 2019, Shuichiro Nishiya, who directed the Mario Party series from Mario Party 6 to Super Mario Party, became the president of NDcube. He replaced Hidetoshi Endo, who had been president for nearly ten years.
In 2024, NDcube changed its name again to Nintendo Cube.
