Career

Weekes began working at BioWare in 2005, creating stories for the Mass Effect and Dragon Age video game series. They wrote characters in Mass Effect such as Mordin Solus, Tali'Zorah, Jack, Kasumi Goto, and Samantha Traynor. They also helped develop the Rannoch and Tuchanka storylines in Mass Effect 3. For Dragon Age: Inquisition, Weekes wrote characters including Iron Bull, Solas, Krem, and Cole. They also wrote the book Dragon Age: The Masked Empire and helped write two stories in the collection Dragon Age: Tevinter Nights.

In 2015, after David Gaider left Dragon Age, Weekes became the lead writer for the franchise. They led the writing for Dragon Age: The Veilguard, the next game in the series, and also created the character Taash.

In January 2025, after Electronic Arts reorganized and reduced the size of BioWare, Weekes shared on Bluesky that they were no longer working at BioWare.

Personal life

Weekes was born in the San Francisco Bay Area and went to Stanford University, where they earned a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in English literature. Weekes currently lives in Edmonton with their wife, Karin Weekes, and they have two sons. Weekes describes themselves as pansexual and non-binary.
