Team Secret is an esports team from Europe. It was created in 2014 and is most famous for its Dota 2 team.
In March 2016, Team Secret added an international female Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team. In April 2016, Team Secret began competing in Street Fighter by hiring Lee "Poongko" Chung-Gon as their first World Warrior. They also signed Otto "Silent Wolf" Bisno as a Super Smash Bros. Melee player. In July 2018, Team Secret started competing in Age of Empires 2 after adding important members from Team TyRanT. In August 2018, Team Secret entered the Rainbow Six Siege Pro League by signing Team IDK.
Dota 2
On July 27, 2014, N0tail and Fly left Fnatic. On August 3, 2014, s4 left Alliance. Some people began talking about a new team with top players on Reddit.
Na'Vi announced on their website that they released Puppey and KuroKy. On August 27, 2014, Team Secret introduced their team and played a match against Alliance.
After finishing second in Star-Ladder Series 10, the team shared on Twitter and the DAC site that Fly and BigDaddy had left the team. Zai and Arteezy joined as temporary players.
Team Secret finished third in the Dota 2 Asia Championships and kept their team. They later won five important tournaments.
Team Secret was expected to win The International 2015, but they finished 7th-8th. After this, they made changes to their team. Arteezy and KuroKy had disagreements and left the team. Arteezy returned to Evil Geniuses, and KuroKy joined a new version of Team Liquid. On August 15, Zai announced he would take a break to finish school. This led s4 to leave and return to Alliance.
For the Frankfurt Major, Team Secret’s new team included EternalEnVy, w33, Misery, Puppey, and pieliedie.
During the Shanghai Major, Team Secret won matches against OG and Evil Geniuses in the upper bracket. They beat Team Liquid in the upper bracket finals and reached the Grand Final.
On March 6, Team Secret played against Team Liquid in the Grand Finals. They won the match 3–1 for a prize of $1.1 million.
On March 22, Team Secret announced that Artour "Arteezy" Babaev and Saahil "Universe" Arora would replace w33 and MiSeRy.
On June 6, after finishing last at the Manila Major, Team Secret announced Kanishka "BuLba" Sosale would replace Saahil "UNiVeRsE" Arora.
On August 27, Team Secret introduced a new team with Asian players Pyo "MP" No-a, Yeik "MidOne" Nai Zheng, and Lee "Forev" Sang-don, along with European players Johan "pieliedie" Åström and Clement "Puppey" Ivanov.
On November 6, Forev left the team. His replacement for the season was German player Maurice "KheZu" Gutmann.
By May 2017, Team Secret had not won any major tournaments. They were knocked out early in the Kiev Major by SG-esports. Team Secret replaced pieliedie with Yazied "YapzOr" Jaradat and moved Puppey to the 5 position. Despite some improvements, they did not qualify directly for The International 2017. They reached The International 2017 through European qualifiers but were eliminated by Team Liquid in a 2–1 series, finishing 9th-12th. In September 2017, KheZu and MP were replaced by Marcus "Ace" Hoelgaard and Adrian "FATA-" Trinks. With this new team, they won DreamLeague Season 8.
In 2018, Team Secret won some smaller tournaments but did not win any major events. They finished 5th-6th in The International 2018. For the Dota Pro Circuit 2018-2019, Ace and FATA- left, and they were replaced by Michał "Nisha" Jankowski and Ludwig "zai" Wåhlberg.
At the KL Major, Team Secret were expected to win. They won their group and advanced through the upper bracket, losing only one match to Virtus.pro. In the Grand Finals, they lost to Virtus.pro in a five-game series despite taking a 2–1 lead.
After the roster changes, Team Secret won important tournaments, including The Chongqing Major and the MDL Disneyland Paris Major. They earned 14,400 points in the Dota 2 professional ranking, placing first. Puppey was named the MDL Most Valuable Player. On the final day of the MDL Disneyland Paris Major, Team Secret won eight games, advanced through the upper bracket, and won the finals 3–1 against Team Liquid. Zai played a key role by using his character Mars to help Nisha and MidOne. Nisha had the most last hits at 35 minutes in the tournament.
In November 2024, Team Secret competed in the group stage of the 1win Series Dota 2 Fall.
Rainbow Six Siege
Before the Six Major Paris 2018, Team Secret signed Team IDK. The team included Bryan "Elemzje" Tebessi, Ryan "Lacky" Stapley, Leon "LeonGids" Giddens, Matthew "meepeY" Sharples, David "sTiZze" de Castro, and Louis "Helbee" Bureau as the coach. At the Paris Major, Team Secret finished in 3-4th place after defeating OrgLess, FaZe Clan, and Team Vitality, but lost to G2 Esports, who won the event. They earned $25,000 in prize money.
On February 17, 2020, Joonas "jNSzki" Savolainen returned from retirement after leaving G2 and later the Mousesports/GiFu roster to take Elemzje's position.
On May 5, the team officially ended its operations.
On May 13, Team Secret signed Team OrgLess after the group qualified for the European League, preparing for their first competition.
League of Legends
Team Secret's League of Legends division bought a spot in the Vietnam Championship Series (VCS) from Lowkey Esports. The team played in the VCS from 2020 to 2024. In 2024, the VCS became a lower-level league to prepare for the League of Legends Championship Pacific (LCP), which started in 2025. Team Secret was not on the first list of teams for the LCP. On December 6, 2024, it was announced that Team Whales, which had been invited to the LCP, was bought by Team Secret. The team is now called Secret Whales.
Valorant
Team Secret joined the Valorant competitive scene in 2021 after taking over the team roster from Bren Esports in early September. Bren Esports was meant to represent Southeast Asia in the 2021 Valorant Champions Tour: Stage 3 Masters in Berlin as the regional champions, but could not take part because of rules from their country related to the COVID-19 pandemic and visa problems. In the same year, Team Secret qualified for the 2021 Valorant Champions, the world championship for Valorant’s first competitive season, and reached the Top 8 of the tournament. They lost to the eventual champions, Team Acend, in the quarterfinals. In 2023, the team was chosen by Riot Games as one of the partner franchise teams for the International Leagues of the VCT Pacific.
Rocket League
On February 25, Team Secret bought the team roster of Erased, which included players Roberto Lima "Sad" de Souza, Matheus "math" Gonçalves, and Olímpio "nxghtt" Torres. On September 19, Matheus "math" Gonçalves was not in the starting lineup anymore. On October 8, Danilo "kv1" Michelini joined the team.
Counter-Strike 2
On January 8, 2024, Team Secret formed a new Counter-Strike 2 team. The team includes Danish players Mikkel "Maze" Sparvath and Sebastian "Tauson" Tauson Lindelof, Serbian player Vladan "Kind0" Mandic, Israeli player Guy "anarkez" Trachtman, and Polish player Paweł "innocent" Mocek.
