Huntdown: Overtime, a prequel game that focuses on one of the main characters, was announced by Easy Trigger on January 29, 2026.

Gameplay

The player can choose one of three characters: Anna Conda (a human fighter), John Sawyer (a 148-year-old cyborg), or Mow Man (a robot that resembles The Terminator). The player must guide the chosen character through different levels. In each level, enemies appear as obstacles that must be overcome to reach the end. Some levels contain suitcases called "Stashes," which can be collected and affect the final score. These Stashes may be located in specific areas or carried by enemy couriers, who must be chased and defeated before they escape.

Enemies use various weapons, including homemade ones like hockey sticks, baseball bats, and motorcycles, which harm the player. When enemies fall, they may drop these weapons, which the player can pick up as secondary weapons. However, these weapons have limited ammunition compared to the player's primary weapons. This also applies to throwing items like hand grenades and molotov cocktails, which are limited in supply compared to the player's main throwing weapons (a tomahawk axe for Anna Conda, a boomerang for John Sawyer, and throwing knives for Mow Man).

If the player's health bar runs out, they die. Health can be restored by passing through checkpoints in the level or by collecting medical items such as medical kits or painkiller bottles. The player can also fall into specific pitfalls, which cause death. While the player can die and restart many times, completing a level without dying increases the final score.

Each level ends with a boss fight, where the player must defeat a boss (depicted as a bounty) to finish the level. Some bosses are split into two parts: an armored version and an unarmored version. The player must first destroy the armored health bar (colored silver) before damaging the boss. This rule also applies to certain enemies throughout the levels.

Story

Huntdown is set in the future, after a third world war destroyed Earth's nations. In this new world, corporations have taken control of society, which is driven by greed. These corporations only offer jobs and protection to people who are loyal to them. Because public services are missing, crime rates are very high. Street gangs, cartels, and other groups constantly fight each other and challenge corporate power. This environment creates good conditions for bounty hunters, who are hired by corporations to kill specific targets.

The player controls a bounty hunter who is hired by the elderly Wolfmother of the Shimamoto Corporation. The Wolfmother was also the foster mother of the bounty hunter. She offers a large reward for completing a mission to eliminate leaders of four dangerous gangs: the Hoodlum Dolls (a wild, punk-themed gang), the Misconducts (a gang that wears hockey uniforms as armor), the Heatseekers (a smuggling gang that rides motorcycles and wears clothing inspired by ancient Roman soldiers), and the newly formed Nº1 Suspects (a group with a Japanese-inspired style and advanced technology). While hunting the gang leaders, the bounty hunter also finds opportunities to eliminate lower-ranking members who help the gangs.

After defeating the leader of the last gang, the Shogun of the Nº1 Suspects, the bounty hunter is contacted by the Wolfmother. She is surprised the hunter survived the mission, which was meant to destroy the gangs and take over their areas. The Wolfmother explains that Shimamoto Corporation changed its leadership, and the mission was planned to eliminate the gangs while making it look like the bounty hunter died, hiding the corporation's involvement. Because the hunter survived, the Wolfmother cancels the contract and places a bounty on the hunter’s head. At the same time, a bounty is placed on the Wolfmother. Another unseen bounty hunter kills the guards and then kills the Wolfmother.

Huntdown received "generally favorable" reviews, according to review aggregator Metacritic.
