WarioWare: Get It Together! is a 2021 party video game created by Intelligent Systems and released by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch. It is the 11th game in the WarioWare series, coming after WarioWare Gold, which was released in 2018 for the Nintendo 3DS. The game was available worldwide on September 10, 2021, and sold 1.34 million copies globally. It was the last game in the WarioWare series to include Charles Martinet as the voice of Wario before he stopped voicing the character (and others in the Mario series) in 2023.

Gameplay

Get It Together! continues the WarioWare series by asking players to complete sets of "microgames." Each microgame requires players to achieve a goal in just a few seconds. In this game, Wario and his friends are trapped inside his latest gaming device, so they must play the microgames themselves.

Two players take turns controlling different characters in the game. Each character moves and acts in unique ways. For example, Wario uses a jetpack to fly and can charge with his shoulder. Mona rides her scooter automatically and controls a boomerang while in the air. 18-Volt stays in one place and fires CDs, moving only by hooking onto rings. These special abilities mean each character can complete the same microgame differently. For instance, a microgame requiring a windmill to spin can be finished by pushing it or hitting it with projectiles. Players can unlock up to 20 different characters.

Outside of the main story, the game includes party-style minigames for up to four players. There is also a ranked mode called the Wario Cup, which features different challenges.

Players can give gifts, called "prezzies" in the game, to characters to increase their levels. Leveling up a character raises the base score, which helps players in the Wario Cup. Players can also change the appearance of their chosen character. Prezzies can be found in the emporium or obtained through other methods.

Plot

The game starts with Wario and his friends at his company, WarioWare Inc. (which includes Lulu, who appeared in WarioWare: Gold). They are working on a game unit they have finished creating. When Wario tries to turn it on, the console does not work, surprising Wario and his friends. Frustrated, Wario throws the console into the air, and he and his friends are pulled into the game. They become virtual versions of themselves and enter the game world. When they wake up, they find that their game has been taken over by "Game Bugs," which cause errors and problems in the game's levels. Wario and his friends must defeat these bugs to fix the game and return to the real world.

After defeating the final bug, the Wario Bug, which is a broken and controlled version of Wario, they leave the other bugs behind after Wario gives them a place to stay in the final level. A god-like figure named "The Supreme Developer," who has Wario's nose and mustache, appears and explains that he brought Wario and his friends into the game to remove the bugs, which Wario unintentionally caused because of his poor programming. He tells them they can leave the game. Outside, the group learns about Wario's role in creating the bugs and chases him. However, Wario notices that three members of WarioWare Inc. (Red, Master Mantis, and Lulu) are still trapped in the game. The group returns to the game to rescue them.

Upon re-entering the game, The Supreme Developer tells them their friends were captured by an unknown figure, not the Game Bugs. The group travels through skyscrapers where their friends are trapped, each containing a treasure. After collecting all three treasures, they find a note challenging them to combine the treasures. Dr. Crygor calls Penny, who is not at WarioWare Inc., for help after she creates the Jet Tank One in her lab. When Penny joins the game, the group combines the treasures to make a watering can, which they use to grow a giant beanstalk. The beanstalk disappears, disappointing Wario. They climb the beanstalk and defeat the final boss, who is Pyoro, a character from a fictional game within Wario's world. Pyoro had moved into Wario's game to have fun. After defeating Pyoro, Wario is upset because Pyoro has no treasure left.

Reception

WarioWare: Get It Together! received mostly positive reviews from Metacritic, a website that collects game reviews. Another site, OpenCritic, reported that the game was strongly approved by 65% of critics. In Japan, four reviewers from Famitsu gave the game a score of 31 out of 40.

Game Informer praised the game's microgames, calling them "creative," but noted that requiring every character to play each game limited the variety of gameplay. Nintendo Life appreciated the story mode, saying it helped players learn about each character and their abilities. They wrote that the use of characters "increased the fun and the number of ways to play." Eurogamer enjoyed the new microgames, describing them as changing styles from "line drawings one minute, anime the next, watercolors: it's a riot of imagination."

The Washington Post liked the co-op gameplay but mentioned that some characters had better movement and abilities. They wrote that players often stuck to the same three or four characters because they had more advantages. TouchArcade had mixed feelings, liking the microgames and the finale but saying there were not enough collectibles or new games to unlock.

GameSpot praised the game's art, especially the new character models, which were "brought to life with 3D models that keep the look of the original artwork while moving more smoothly." PCMag enjoyed the boss fights, saying they provided a fresh experience compared to the microgames. VG247 liked the new co-op modes but criticized the limited single-player options, writing that "the length of the single-player options is a little lacking." Destructoid supported the idea of having different characters but noted that many were very similar, writing, "I wish more was done to make some characters stand out, because while there are many, they feel like copies of each other."

WarioWare: Get It Together! was nominated for "Best Family Game" at The Game Awards 2021 and for "Family Game of the Year" at the 25th Annual D.I.C.E. Awards.

As of December 2022, the game had sold 1.34 million copies worldwide.
