Career

Weekes began working at BioWare in 2005, creating content for the Mass Effect and Dragon Age video game series. They wrote stories for characters such as Mordin Solus, Tali'Zorah, Jack, Kasumi Goto, and Samantha Traynor in Mass Effect. They also helped develop the Rannoch and Tuchanka storylines in Mass Effect 3. In Dragon Age: Inquisition, Weekes wrote stories for characters including Iron Bull, Solas, Krem, and Cole. They also wrote the novel Dragon Age: The Masked Empire and helped write and edit two stories in the collection Dragon Age: Tevinter Nights.

After David Gaider left Dragon Age in 2015, Weekes became the main writer for the franchise. They led the writing for Dragon Age: The Veilguard, the next game in the series, and also wrote the character Taash.

In January 2025, after Electronic Arts changed how BioWare operated and reduced its workforce, Weekes shared a message on Bluesky stating they were no longer working at BioWare.

Personal life

Weekes was born in the San Francisco Bay Area and went to Stanford University, where they earned a bachelor's and master's degree in English literature.

Weekes currently lives in Edmonton with their wife, Karin Weekes. The couple has two sons. Weekes identifies as pansexual and non-binary.
