OG (also called OG Esports) is a professional esports organization located in Europe and Southeast Asia. Founded in 2015, they are best known for their Dota 2 team that won The International 2018 and 2019 tournaments. They also have teams in Counter-Strike 2, Rocket League, and Honor of Kings.

History

OG was founded as "(monkey) Business" in August 2015 by players Tal "Fly" Aizik and Johan "N0tail" Sundstein, who were former members of Team Secret, along with David "MoonMeander" Tan, Fritz "Frtz" DG, and Andreas "Cr1t-" Nielsen. After performing well in the European qualifiers for the Frankfurt Major, the team adopted the name OG. They won the first Dota 2 Major Championship in Frankfurt in November 2015, earning US$1 million in prize money. Although they placed lower in the next Major in Shanghai in March 2016, they recovered and won the Manila Major in June 2016, becoming the first team to win two Valve-sponsored Dota 2 tournaments in a row.

OG entered The International 2016 as a top contender after receiving a direct invite, but they finished 9th to 12th out of 16 teams. In August 2016, MoonMeander, Miracle-, and Cr1t- left the team, and Gustav "s4" Magnusson, Anathan "ana" Pham, and Jesse "JerAx" Vainikka joined. Despite the changes, OG won the Boston Major in December 2016, earning their third Dota 2 Major championship. They then reached the grand finals of the Dota 2 Asia Championships in Shanghai but lost to Invictus Gaming. Later, they won the Kiev Major by defeating Virtus.pro in a best-of-five series. At the Kiev event, the team appeared in Valve's True Sight documentary series.

In May 2018, OG signed James "Swedish Delight" Liu to represent the professional Super Smash Bros. scene. That same month, Fly and s4 left to join Evil Geniuses, and Roman "Resolut1on" Fominok joined VGJ.Storm. Due to roster changes after the deadline, OG could not receive a direct invite to The International 2018 or qualify through regional events. They needed three new players before the qualifiers began and signed Topias "Topson" Taavitsainen, Sébastien "Ceb" Debs, and ana, who returned after a one-year break. OG earned a spot in The International 2018 by winning the European open qualifiers.

At The International 2018, OG finished fourth in group A with a 9–7 record, placing them in the upper bracket. They won every series to reach the grand finals, where they faced PSG.LGD, a team they had previously defeated. OG won the first game but lost the next two. After a comeback in game four, they won game five and became International champions, earning over $11 million in prize money. Their victory was considered unexpected, as they had come from the open qualifiers and defeated top teams. This also ended the trend of Chinese teams winning the International in even-numbered years.

In November 2018, ana left the team to take a break, and Per Anders "Pajkatt" Olsson Lille and Igor "iLTW" Filatov temporarily replaced him. In April 2019, OG lost to the OpenAI Five, a group of artificial intelligence bots, in a live exhibition in San Francisco. Later that month, Titouan "Sockshka" Merloz became the team's coach.

OG earned a direct invite to The International 2019 by finishing in the top 12 of the Dota Pro Circuit. They went 14–2 in the group stage, advanced through the upper bracket, and defeated Team Liquid in the grand finals 3–1, becoming the first team to win two International tournaments. They received $15.6 million out of a $34 million prize pool.

In January 2020, OG underwent changes: ana took another break, JerAx retired, and Ceb left to focus on coaching. They signed Syed "Sumail" Hassan, Yeik "MidOne" Nai Zheng, and Martin "Saksa" Sazdov. Sumail left in July 2020, and Ceb returned as a player.

In March 2021, MidOne left the team, and ana briefly returned before retiring in June. Sumail was re-signed later. OG qualified for The International 2021 through regional qualifiers but were eliminated 2–0 in the lower bracket by Team Spirit, the tournament's eventual champion. In April 2021, OG announced a partnership with German car brand BMW. In November 2021, Sumail and Saksa left, Ceb retired, and Topson and N0tail took breaks.

In November 2021, OG announced a new roster: Artem "Yuragi" Golubiev, Bozhidar "bzm" Bogdanov, Ammar "ATF" Al-Assaf, Tommy "Taiga" Le, and Mikhail "Misha" Agatov, who had previously been the team's coach. In May 2022, OG participated in the ESL One 2022 Stockholm Major, with Ceb and N0tail filling in for Misha and head coach Evgenii "Chuvash" Makarov. They won their fifth Dota 2 Major by defeating TSM FTX 3–1 in the grand finals. In August 2022, OG won ESL One Malaysia 2022 by defeating Team Aster 3–0, with Chuvash standing in for Misha due to visa issues.

OG participated in the 1win Series Dota 2 Fall tournament in November 2024, competing for a total prize pool of US$100,000. In November 2025, the team moved its region to Southeast Asia from Europe. They now compete in the PGL Wallachia Season 6 after acquiring the roster of Team Aureus, making them the first Southeast Asian and all-Filipino club in the tournament.

OG was part of the Esports World Cup Foundation Club Support Program in 2024, funded by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund. The program rewarded teams for promoting the Esports World Cup positively. OG was not invited to the 2025 Esports World Cup Club Partner Program.

In December 2019, OG announced the formation of a Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team. The organization signed experienced players Nathan "NBK-" Schmitt, Valdemar "valde" Bjørn Vangså, Aleksi "Aleksib" Virolainen, Issa "ISSAA" Murad, and Mateusz "mantuu" Wilczewski. In January, the team hired Casper "ruggah" Due as their coach. In September 2020, ruggah was involved in the coaching bug scandal. As a result, the Esports Integrity Commission (ESIC) and Valve banned ruggah from participating in one Valve-sponsored Major Championship. In February 2021, the team removed NBK- from the active roster, followed by ISSAA shortly after. To replace them, the team signed Nikolaj "niko" Kristensen in March 2021 and Shahar "flameZ" Shushan a month later.

In January 2022, OG traded Aleksib for Nemanja "nexa" Isaković from G2 Esports, who was part of the team that finished as runners-up in the PGL Major Stockholm 2021. After failing to qualify for the PGL Major Antwerp 2022, OG put valde and niko on the bench in May 2022. To replace them, OG signed Adam "NEOFRAG" Zouhar and Maciej "F1KU" Miklas. Later that year, the organization replaced mantuu, the last founding member of the original roster, with Abdulkhalik "degster" Gasanov.

On 8 June 2023, niko ended his time as a stand-in for OG and became a free agent. Later that month, OG announced plans to rebuild its roster around F1KU, nexa, and Iulian "regali" Harjău, following flameZ’s departure to Team Vitality. On 20 June, OG transfer listed NEOFRAG and degster, leaving only F1KU as an active member.

On 30 June 2023, OG announced the signings of Iulian "regali" Harjău, Nils "k1to" Gruhne, and Dion "FASHR" Derksen, along with the return of nexa to the active roster. NEOFRAG transferred to Into The Breach on 11 July 2023.

On 14 November 2023, OG announced the benching of FASHR, followed by nexa’s transfer back to G2 on 21 November. On 21 December 2023, OG signed MOUZ academy player Bram "Nexius" Campana. The team completed its roster on 4 January 2024 with the signing of Israeli player Nikita "HeavyGod" Martynenko.

On 18 January 2024, OG announced its first-ever Rocket League roster competing in the North America (NA) region.

OG formed a Valorant division in 2021. In May 2022, OG partnered with the British esports organization LDN UTD to compete in the 2022 EMEA Valorant Champions Tour Stage 2. In September 2022, the roster disbanded after OG LDN UTD failed to qualify for the EMEA Valorant partnered team league.
