The Call of Duty Championship is a yearly event for the video game Call of Duty. It takes place at the end of each season of competition to find the best team of the year. Teams must earn a spot by competing in other events before the championship. To join, players must be 18 years old or older when the tournament begins.

History

The first tournament was held in 2013 on Call of Duty: Black Ops II for the Xbox 360. Fariko Impact won the event. In 2014, Complexity Gaming won the $400,000 championship prize while playing Call of Duty: Ghosts.

The 2015 event was won by Denial eSports. The team included Chris "Replays" Crowder, Dillon "Attach" Price, James "Clayster" Eubanks, and Jordan "JKap" Kaplan.

The 2016 event took place from September 2 to September 4, 2016. This was different from earlier events, which were held in the spring. The prize pool was $2,000,000. On June 8, 2016, it was announced that the championship would occur alongside Call of Duty XP, where the Infinite Warfare Multiplayer Trailer would be revealed. Team EnvyUs won the event. The team members were JKap, SlasheR, Apathy, and John, who was named MVP of the event.

In 2020, Activision and Sony Mobile announced the first Call of Duty: Mobile Championship would begin on April 30. However, in December, Activision canceled the Mobile Grand Finals because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The $750,000 prize pool was divided among the seven teams that qualified for the Finals.

The 2021 Call of Duty League season started on January 23, 2021. In April 2021, Activision announced the 2021 Call of Duty: Mobile Championship would begin on June 3.
