Gamer Network Limited (formerly Eurogamer Network Limited) is a British company that creates online content. It is based in London and was started in 1999 by Rupert and Nick Loman. The company owns websites that provide news and information about video games and related businesses. Its main website, Eurogamer, was created at the same time as the company. In 2008, the company began hosting a video game event called EGX. In 2018, ReedPop bought Gamer Network, and in 2024, ReedPop sold the company to IGN Entertainment.

History

Gamer Network was started as Eurogamer Network in 1999 by brothers Rupert and Nick Loman. The company opened its main website, Eurogamer, on September 4, 1999. In 2004, Nick Loman left the business to work in medicine and "competitive BBQ."

In February 2011, Eurogamer Network bought an American publishing company called Hammersuit, along with its websites IndustryGamers.com and Modojo.com. On March 1, 2013, the company changed its name to Gamer Network to support its global growth. As part of this change, Eurogamer Events became Gamer Events, and Hammersuit also used the Gamer Network name. In October 2013, Simon Maxwell was promoted from group publishing director to chief operating officer.

On February 26, 2018, ReedPop, a division of Reed Exhibitions that organizes pop culture events like PAX, bought Gamer Network. Rupert Loman remained as chief executive officer, while Maxwell became managing director and a vice-president for ReedPop's UK operations. Loman left the company in February 2020. In September 2020, ReedPop laid off workers at several Gamer Network sites. In November 2020, the remaining USgamer staff, which had been reduced from nine to four, reported that ReedPop planned to close the site by the end of the year.

In November 2023, ReedPop announced plans to sell Gamer Network, including its editorial brands, but not its events business. In May 2024, IGN Entertainment was named the buyer. After the sale, IGN laid off some editorial staff at GamesIndustry.biz and Rock Paper Shotgun. Following the takeover, Dicebreaker canceled their Tabletop Creators Summit at MCM Comic Con. Chase Carter of Rascal News noted that Dicebreaker, a website that supported amateur talent, was close to closing. Carter, who previously wrote for Dicebreaker, stated that no new content had been published since the May 21 sale, and the website's future was unclear as of June 2024. In June 2024, Dicebreaker staff reported they were laid off.

In February 2026, members of Eurogamer's editorial team, including its entire video team, were laid off. This followed the transfer of most VG247 staff to Eurogamer in the summer of 2025, leaving VG247 with only two full-time writers.
