Nikon Df

Date

The Nikon Df is a full-frame DSLR camera introduced by Nikon on November 5, 2013. It includes special mechanical controls similar to those found on old 35mm film SLR cameras, and its design resembles models like the Nikon FM, Nikon FM2, Nikon FE, Nikon FE2, and Nikon FA film cameras. Nikon’s website explained that the large, metal dials on the camera help photographers connect more directly with their equipment.

Nikon’s website explained that the large, metal dials on the camera help photographers connect more directly with their equipment.

The Nikon Df has the same sensor score of 89 from DxOMark as the Nikon D4. At the time of its release, the Df ranked first in a low-light test with an ISO of 3279, compared to the D4’s ISO of 2965. However, the actual difference in performance was small.

Unlike other Nikon DSLR cameras, the Df does not record videos, only still images. While most reviews were mostly positive, some criticized the camera’s lack of video recording and other built-in features. The Df also does not have a built-in flash or automatic modes. However, it works with almost all Nikon lenses made since 1959.

Features

  • The Nikon Df uses the same CMOS sensor and EXPEED 3 image-processing system as the Nikon D4.
  • The Nikon Df has an adjustable meter coupling lever, which allows users to attach older F-mount manual-focus lenses, such as Non-AI and AI lenses, without causing damage.
