Did You Know Gaming? (shortened as DYKG) is an American blog and online show that started in May 2012. The website shares videos about interesting facts and trivia related to video games. Sometimes, it also does reports about forgotten games and lost secrets in the gaming world. Each video is narrated by well-known internet personalities and experts in the gaming field, such as JonTron, Arin Hanson, Smooth McGroove, David Hayter, and others.

Since it began, the website has been mentioned in many major news and gaming websites, including Huffington Post, MCV, Game Informer, MTV, Nerdist, and the Houston Press.

In 2017, Did You Know Gaming? started a second channel called DYKG Clips (previously named Did You Know Gaming? 2).

History

The site started on May 14, 2012, created by Shane Gill. He had the idea for a website focused on gaming trivia after seeing Facebook groups about trivia. By July 2012, the official Facebook page had almost 20,000 fans in less than eight weeks. As of January 2022, the official YouTube channel has over 2,300,000 subscribers and more than 580 million video views.

On January 25, 2014, Did You Know Gaming partnered with a relaunched website called Normal Boots. This website was created by Jon Jafari and Austin Hargrave to share gaming-related content. A new series called Did You Know Movies was also started on the The Film Theorists channel. Later, this series moved to the NormalBoots YouTube channel, where most of the original videos were revised.

On July 7, 2017, Did You Know Gaming? introduced a new channel. This channel features content created by Dazz, who also makes The Spriters Resource and Region Locked, and Greg, who also works on Region Locked. The channel has a more casual style and focuses on adding extra content to support the main channel. It includes its own versions of two main shows: Did You Know Gaming? Extra and Region Locked Light. As of April 2021, this second channel has over 160,000 subscribers and more than 4.1 million video views.

On November 21, 2017, the team announced that Region Locked Light would end and that Did You Know Gaming? Extra would move to the main channel. At that time, they had few plans for the second channel. One idea was using it to promote smaller trivia and gaming channels.

On June 29, 2020, Did You Know Gaming? 2 was renamed DYKG Clips, which collects clips from Did You Know Gaming? and Did You Know Gaming? Extra.

On April 23, 2022, they announced they would release one-hour videos from DYKG Clips as podcasts.

On April 28, 2023, the channel was hacked by cryptocurrency scammers.
