Castlevania ( / ˌ k æ s əl ˈ v eɪ n i ə / ), called Akumajō Dracula in Japan, is a dark and scary adventure video game series and related media created by Konami. The series mostly takes place in the castle of Count Dracula, who is the main enemy of the Belmont family, a group of vampire hunters. The series began with a 1986 video game on Nintendo’s Famicom Disk System.
